Thompson House Project

Building envelope works delivered by Bak Cladding Solutions.

Thompson House

Bak Cladding Solutions delivered building envelope works at Thompson House, contributing cladding, roofing, and glazing expertise to this notable UK development. The project forms part of a portfolio that also includes Smithfield, Media City, and Corby Cinema.

The building envelope is the defining element of any structure, and at Thompson House, the team approached it with the same disciplined attention to detail that characterises every project in the portfolio. By coordinating cladding, roofing, and glazing as a single integrated package, the works ensured that each system performed not only on its own terms but in harmony with the others. This holistic approach minimises interface risk, speeds up the construction programme, and delivers a finished facade that reads as one coherent design rather than a collection of separate trades. It is a methodology proven time and again across commercial and mixed-use developments throughout the UK.

Material selection plays a central role in achieving both aesthetic impact and long-term performance. The cladding systems installed at Thompson House drew on established manufacturers known for durability, weather resistance, and architectural versatility. From high-pressure laminates to insulated metal panels and brick slips, each material was specified to suit its location on the building, balancing visual rhythm with practical considerations such as fire performance, maintenance, and thermal efficiency. The result is a facade that stands up to the demands of the British climate while maintaining a crisp, contemporary appearance that ages gracefully over decades of service.

Roofing formed an equally critical component of the envelope package, with standing seam metal systems providing a robust and weathertight solution across the development. These systems are engineered to accommodate thermal movement, shed water efficiently, and withstand high wind loads, making them well suited to both low-rise and mid-rise structures. By delivering the roofing and cladding through a single contractor, the project benefited from a unified programme of works, shared access arrangements, and consistent quality control across the entire external fabric. This coordination reduces programme risk and helps keep the project on schedule from first fix to final completion.

Every building envelope project is ultimately judged by how well it meets the client's brief, and Thompson House was no exception. The team's ability to draw on a full range of services, from initial design coordination through to installation and aftercare, gave the client a single point of accountability for the entire external package. This end-to-end delivery model, combined with a track record that includes notable developments across the country, reflects a commitment to quality and reliability that clients return to time and again. Whether working on cinemas, media hubs, or residential schemes, the same rigorous standards are applied to every square metre of facade.

Building Envelope Package

At Thompson House, Bak Cladding Solutions provided a complete envelope package drawing on its full service range. Cladding systems were installed using materials from leading manufacturers including Trespa, Marley, Kingspan, Ruukki, and brick slips. Roofing works encompassed standing seam metal roofing, Kingspan and Ruukki insulated panels, and single-ply membrane systems. Glazing and curtain walling were delivered using Technal, Kawneer, and Scucco aluminium systems.

The project reflects the company's capability to coordinate multiple envelope disciplines under a single contractor, ensuring consistent quality and streamlined delivery across the façade, roof, and glazing elements.
